All tours are independent travel (no guides accompany you) to give you the
maximum flexibility and keep the prices as low as possible.
There are SO many
reasons to visit this Northern Frontier.
In the spring and
summer you can see what it’s like to live in the land of the
Midnight Sun with daylight
nearly 24 hours a day. You can go for a hike or a swim at midnight as easily as
at noon!
In the late summer
and early fall you can watch migrating herds of caribou.
And, starting in
the early fall right through until spring you can look for the awesome
Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights - a sight you will never forget!
Wildlife is common
throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
On our last trip to the Yukon we saw herds of buffalo, several grizzlies, caribou,
arctic foxes, deer and more!
The Yukon also has
a lot of historical significance at it was the home of the famous
Klondike Gold Rush centered around Dawson
City. You can try your
luck panning for Gold or visit one of the old style saloons for a turn of the century
Can Can show!
If you get to the
Dawson City area, you have to take a trip on the
Dempster Highway. Not your
typical highway, this road is gravel and clay and there are signs warning that certain
parts of the road are also used as airstrips!
Incredible scenery is all around you plus this is one of the best areas to
see Grizzlies and Caribou. The highway
crosses the Arctic Circle just north
of Eagle Plains which makes for a great photo stop!
Rent a car or an RV in Whitehorse and you can even visit
Alaska – “The Last Frontier”.
